Regional Agency for Socio Economic Development – Banat, Ltd Zrenjanin (later on RDA – Banat) was founded through the ''transformation'' of the Regional Agency for the Development of Small and Medium Size Enterprises and Entrepreneurs – Banat Ltd.

The project “Setting up the RDA – Banat'' was funded by the European Union through the European Agency for Reconstruction. The overall objective of this project was to contribute to the capacity building for sustainable socio-economic development in Banat, by creating a strong partnership between Banat municipalities. RDA Banat has therefore been created as the institutional framework in which the municipalities can join their economic resources.

RDA – Banat is a limited liability company, a non – profit organization, registered in accordance with the Commercial Companies Law of the Republic of Serbia. Its founders are the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Executive Council of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, all 19 municipalities of Banat territory, Banat's Regional Chamber of Commerce, European Movement in Serbia-Local Council – Zrenjanin, District 0230, APSMEE Vršac, BUPA Pančevo, ''Mlekoprodukt“ from Zrenjanin and HIP Petrohemija. However, besides the responsibility to its founders, RDA - Banat is accountable to each of 690.000 Banat's inhabitants.
